Susan Weiner, MS, RDN, CDE, CDN, 2015 AADE Diabetes Educator of the Year, is an esteemed diabetes educator and accomplished lecturer who earned a Masters Degree in Applied Physiology and Nutrition from Columbia University and a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Susan serves as a member of dLife's prestigious medical advisory board, and a nutrition expert for dLife.com. She also co-authored a "how-to" book on diabetes organization, The Complete Diabetes Organizer: Your Guide to a Less Stressful and More Manageable Diabetes Life, Spry Publishing 2013.

Charles O'Connell, CPT, C.D.C., DPP, LCCFounder and CEO of FITSCRIPT.COM
Recognizing a lack of support and guidance related to exercise and diabetes, Charlie founded FITSCRIPT.COM in 2012 to help others with diabetes reach their fitness goals through structured exercise guidance, support, and training. In the fall of 2013, Charlie opened the FITSCRIPT diabetes fitness clinic at 5 Science Park in New Haven, CT, the worlds first exercise clinic dedicated exclusively to diabetes prevention and management. In 2014, FITSCRIPT launched the first online video instruction platform providing exercise video instruction integrated with information for tracking and improving diabetes metrics.

 

Besides operating FITSCRIPT.COM, Charlie is also the exercise instructor for the nationally recognized Fair Haven Health Clinic Diabetes Prevention Program in New Haven, CT, and head coach of the Hopkins School Track and Field program. Charlie is a certified personal trainer, a CDC certified diabetes prevention lifestyle coach, speaker, author, golfer, skier, runner, and entrepreneur.

Kim
Kimberly Warner, Strategic Partnership Manager, Fitbit, Inc.
Kim Warner started in the wearables industry in 2007. She has a degree in Marketing from Rutgers University, School of Business and has held positions in sales for BodyMedia, Inc., and Jawbone before going to Fitbit, Inc. Prior to the wearables industry, Kim spent seven years with Johnson & Johnson in their diabetes division, LifeScan.

 

In her current position as Strategic Partnership Manager, Kim is dedicated to bringing the Fitbit line of activity trackers and solutions to the weight management industry and customers.

Most of the time, we bash the lastest news about a "diabetes cure" because it is neither a cure, nor often even a significant improvement in diabetes treatment. Usually these "cures" are tested in mice, but fail to make the leap over to human physiology. Devices may work in the lab, but take decades to pass through FDA review, and still not be much better than what we already have. It's enough to make us all jaded. I know I am. But I saw something...
