2 1/2 lb  fresh chopped pears
0 1/2 cup  cold water
1 tbsp  fresh lemon juice
0 3/4 tsp  ground ginger
0 1/2 tsp  ground cinnamon
0.125 tsp  ground nutmeg
2 cup  sugar
  1. Add pears and water to a pot and let boil. Lower heat, place lid on pot, and simmer 10 minutes or until soft.
  2. Using a food processor or blender, puree pear and water until smooth
  3. Pour pear puree back into pot and mix in lemon juice, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar; let mixture boil. Lower heat and simmer 10 to 20 minutes, stirring often until mixture is thick.
  4. Spoon pear butter into 3 sterilized half pint jars and seal, cool.
