0 1/2 lb  fresh asparagus
0 1/4 cup  cold water
6 each  cooking spray
2 tbsp  grated Parmesan cheese
0.125 tsp  black pepper
  1. If using fresh asparagus or string beans, start by trimming the ends.
  2. Place your vegetable of choice in a 2-quart microwaveable casserole dish with water. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and microwave for 10-12 minutes or until tender. If using frozen vegetables, cut down the microwave time according to the package's instructions.
  3. Remove from microwave and let stand for 5-7 minutes in order to cool down a bit.
  4. Carefully remove plastic and drain.
  5. Coat vegetables with non-stick cooking spray and toss.
  6. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and pepper. Microwave uncovered for 1 minute to melt cheese or place under broiler. Let stand 2 minutes.
