Arrange sausages flat and coiled to form a round disk. Place a metal skewer horizontally through center section of sausages, and place another skewer through meat perpendicular to the first, making an X. Lay sausages in a close-fitting rimmed pan about 10 by 15 inches.
Bake until well browned, about 55 minutes. Using the skewers, take sausages out of pan, lay on a platter, and take out skewers. Slice sausages to serve.
Take fat out of pan, and if desired, pour in 1/2 cup water and loosen browned bits; save to add to other recipes.
