0.3333 cup  Shortening, vegetable, butter flavor
0 1/2 cup  sugar
1 each  eggs
1 tsp  vanilla extract
2 cup  white all purpose flour
2 tsp  low sodium baking powder
0 1/4 tsp  baking soda
0 1/4 tsp  salt
0 1/4 cup  low fat buttermilk
1 tsp  sugar
0 1/4 tsp  ground nutmeg
  1. Heat oven to 375 F degrees. Spray a baking sheet with vegetable spray.
  2. Combine shortening and sugar in large bowl; beat at medium speed with electric mixer until blended. Beat in egg & vanilla.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda & salt. Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture at low speed. Mix well after each addition.
  4. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness on lightly floured surface. Cut with floured 2-1/2-inch round cutter. Place on baking sheet.
  5. For Topping: Combine sugar and nutmeg. Sprinkle over tops of tea cakes.
  6. Bake at 375F for 7 to 9 minutes or until set. Remove to cooling rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
