In large bowl, add whole package of gelatin and boiling water. Stir until gelatin is completely dissolved.
Add cherries and cold water. Stir for 1-2 minutes until cherries thaw.
Refrigerate 1 hour until the mixture is consistency of raw egg whites.
Fold in apples, celery, and nuts. Pour mixture into 1-quart mold or bowl.
Cover and refrigerate at least 6 hours until gelatin is firm.
Unmold salad onto plate or serve from bowl.
To unmold salad, dip mold in warm water for a few seconds to loosen edges. Center a plate upside-down over the mold and invert the molded salad onto plate. Jiggle the mold gently until salad loosens, then lift the mold off carefully. If salad doesn't release from mold the first time, repeat this step.
