12 oz  extra lean ground beef (5% fat)
1 tbsp  vegetable oil
0 1/2 cup  fresh chopped onion
8 oz  Mushrooms, pieces & stems, canned
3 1/2 cup  canned unsalted tomato puree
2 cup  Juice, tomato, low sodium
2 tbsp  chopped parsley
1 tsp  salt
0 1/2 tsp  powdered garlic
0 1/2 tsp  dried basil
0 1/2 tsp  oregano leaves
1 tsp  italian seasoning
  1. Place beef in a 5-quart Dutch oven, or heavy pot.
  2. Cook and stir over medium heat, until it is separated and lightly brown. Strain off any fat, and set aside to drain.
  3. Rinse out pan with hot water, return to heat, and pour oil in.
  4. Drain the mushrooms; discard the juice.
  5. Add the onions and mushrooms to the oil, and cook over medium heat until onions are soft, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add all of the remaining ingredients, along with the meat, to the onions and mushrooms.
  7. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
