Trim and remove fat from beef. Cut beef into 1/2" thick pieces. Place flour in large bowl, add beef. Toss beef to coat with flour. Remove beef from bowl, dusting off excess flour. Set beef aside.
In large skillet, over medium heat, cook bacon until partially done, 3 minutes.
Add beef to skillet, and brown beef, turning to cook all sides. Move beef and bacon with slotted spoon to slow cooker.
In slow cooker, layer potatoes, mushroom, carrots, onions, garlic, bay leaf, marjoram, thyme, salt, pepper to taste. Add broth and cover. Cook 8-10 hours on low setting or 4-5 hours on high, until beef is tender.
