Pinpointing your fear of injections

If it's not the fear of needles that gives you the willies, it might be the thought of sticking yourself several times each and every day. Or it could be the loss of control, the fear of side effects, or even the looming possibility that you might have to use insulin if your type 2 medication doesn't quite cut it. "No one enjoys shots," says Jan Drass, R.N., M.A., C.D.E. Diabetes Clinician at Frederick Memorial Healthcare System Wellness Center in Frederick, MD. It's like a mental game. Mainly because needles make you think of pain, and the thought of pain whips up the fear factor frenzy.
