May 18-20 2012Diabetes Sisters Weekend for Women Conference at the Marriott City Center, 500 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh, NC 27601. May 18-19, 2012 – Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Group-West will present From Prepregnancy Planning to Maternal and Infant Outcomes conference will be held at The Westin Pasadena in Pasadena, California, and is co-sponsored by Sweet Success Extension Program and Sansum Diabetes Research Institute. There is increasing prevalence of obesity and diabetes during pregnancy and in the general population of reproductive-age women. Topics will cover treatment modalities aimed at preventing or reducing the rates of diabetes, obesity and associated birth defects as well as strategies to improve perinatal outcomes. The meeting will focus on three "life stages”: the prepregnancy and periconceptional period, mid-late pregnancy and the postpartum period including the implications of intrauterine exposure on infant and child health outcomes.
