October 1st 2006 - Learn about WAVES diabetes (Wellness Adventures: Vacation, Education and Support) at the ADA Walk for Diabetes Health and Information Fair, St. Charles, IL from 8:30 am -12:00 pm. WAVES diabetes will set sail onboard Celebrity Cruise line in January 2007 to the Caribbean and May 2007 to Alaska (Fall date TBA). October 3th 2006 - Diabetes Support Group: Provides opportunity for those with diabetes and family members to learn more about the disease by listening to guest speakers and talking with their peers.Trained clinicians speak on topics related to diabetes. This class is open to any persons interested. You do not have to have diabetes to participate. The fee is free. The location is St. John River District Hospital: East China Township, MI from 6:00 to 7:00pm.

October 7th 2006 - The TCOYD (Take Control of Your Diabetes) Conference and Health Fair takes place in San Francisco Bay Area. This event is to educate and motivate people with diabetes and their loved ones, to take a more active role in their condition, in order to live healthier, happier, and more productive lives. The screenings will be performed by various hospitals including Solaris Health System Diabetes Center of New Jersey in Edison, Hackensack University Medical Center, Atlantic Health System Morristown Memorial Hospital, Valley Home Care, Inc in Paramus, University Medical Center at Princeton and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway. FREE ADMISSION! October 14th 2006 - Winston-Salem, NC Teammate Walkers needed for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk for a Cure. The walk takes place at Wake Forest University. Brew up conversations with other families and diabetes professionals about nutrition, school issues, exercise, and insulin. Come learn to live well as a family as we help you balance and stretch your family's life with diabetes! This a co-ed event for ages 1-10.
