November 3, 2014 – FDA-Patient Dialogue

This event is a webcast of a discussion between FDA staff involved in diabetes-related products and representatives of the diabetes patient community.

FDA welcomes real-world perspectives as the agency makes decisions about the safety and effectiveness of products on which people with diabetes depend.

FDA also regularly shares updates on regulatory actions and tools that affect diabetes care and quality of life with patients, caregivers, and health professionals.

November 8, 2014 - Many are asking the same question: "Does anyone understand what it's like to live with diabetes?" Taking Control of Your Diabetes (TCOYD) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that has been educating and motivating diabetes communities in cities around the country since 1995, and they understand. TCOYD will be hosting its 20th annual conference and health fair in San Diego, CA with an all-star cast of diabetes experts for a day that will ignite motivation, offer hope and change the life of anyone with diabetes!

Join TCOYD at the San Diego Convention Center on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Learn, laugh and live better with leading diabetes experts, get one-on-one advice from endocrinologists, diabetes educators, dietitians, pharmacists, and personal trainers, and receive the most cutting-edge type-specific information on diabetes care and management by attending TCOYD's individualized type 1 or type 2 track.

SPACE IS LIMITED: pre-registration is recommended.
Registration fees: $30 per person ($25 per person for groups of 2 or more) on or before 12 noon PST Wednesday, November 5, 2014. November 8, 2014 – Join Dance Out Diabetes for "Totally Michael Jackson," a dance class dedicated to the King of Pop! It will be held at The African American Arts & Culture Complex (762 Fulton Street, San Francisco, CA 94102 between Buchanan & Webster). Free parking.

November 11, 2014 - Long standing type 1 group that meets in Manhattan every second tuesday of each month at the Friedman Diabetes Institute, 317 East 17th Street (just east of Second Ave.), 8th Floor, will be meeting on November 11 from 6:30 pm to 8pm.

We will be joined by Riva Greenberg, columnist with the Huffington Post, Advisory Member of Diabetes Hands Foundation, peer-mentor with the A1C Champions, and member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators. Riva's Books include: Diabetes Do's & How-To's, 50 Diabetes Myths That Can Ruin Your Life, and The ABCs of Loving Yourself With Diabetes.

November 11, 2014 – The Derby Diabetes Education Club, in conjunction with the American Diabetes Association, holds monthly meetings to discuss the management of diabetes, its challenges, and day-to-day dietary concerns. November 26, 2014 – Dr. Richard Bernstein will conduct another 60-minute TeleSeminar and Webcast at 8PM EST, 7PM CST, 6PM MST, 5PM PST, designed to answer your most important questions concerning diabetes and his thoughts on the latest developments in this area. Dr. Bernstein is a practicing diabetologist who has had diabetes for over 68 years. He is the author of six best selling diabetes books, including Diabetes Solution and The Diabetes Diet. Currently a faculty member at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he also has a private practice in Mamaroneck, New York. The teleseminar and webcast session is FREE but attendance will be limited and you must also register. As I mentioned in an earlier post, one of the benefits that made it cost-effective for me to go with the real healthcare (HSA) plan rather than the phony (HRA) plan is that my company is now covering "preventative" medicines at $0 copay.
