January 2, 2013 — Dr. Richard Bernstein will participate in another 60 minute TeleSeminar and Webcast at 8PM EST, 7PM CST, 6PM MST, 5PM PST, designed to answer your most important questions concerning diabetes and his thoughts on the latest developments in this area. Dr. Bernstein is a practicing diabetologist who has had diabetes for over 60 years. He is the author of six best selling diabetes books, including Diabetes Solution and The Diabetes Diet. Currently a faculty member at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he also has a private practice in Mamaroneck, New York. January 6 – 19, 2013 — T.J. Maxx stores throughout the U.S. will host the seventh annual in-store Give-A-Dollar campaign to raise money for the Joslin Diabetes Center's High Hopes Fund. Last year this program raised over $655,000 for Joslin Diabetes Center!

January 7-13 2013 – Western Caribbean Cruise Royal Caribbean "Independence of the Seas" is an interactive program of motivational seminars and workshops designed for people with diabetes, their families and friends. For more information click here.

January 12, 2013 — Dance the salsa with Dance Out Diabetes! Join instructor Elsa Rivera as she shows you an upbeat salsa workout that gets the whole body moving, but is accommodating to all ages and abilities. The class will be held at The African American Arts & Culture Complex (762 Fulton Street, San Francisco, CA 94102 between Buchanan & Webster). Free parking.

January 12, 2013  — Nor Cal Type 1 Diabetes Group will be holding their monthly support group on Saturday Jan. 12th 2013 at Mercy Hospital (lower level) in Redding starting at 9am. This is a free event and will be featuring Trial-Net. They will be screening people to see if they they are at risk for diabetes. Jan. 26, 2013 — Reach & Teach U Annual Outreach Event: This annual event, hosted by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, is for families and individuals affected by Type 1 Diabetes. This free event features a morning of educational sessions designed to provide important and relevant diabetes info for people living with Type 1 Diabetes. The event will be held 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., CT at LaVista Embassy Suites – LaVista.

January 27, 2013 — Make your reservation to join Joslin as we dine out to conquer diabetes with CityFeast 2013. CityFeast is a five-course dinner with wine pairings at your choice of one of Boston's exclusive restaurants. This year we are delighted to welcome restaurants in the South End and Seaport neighborhoods to join this tradition which began in the North End. As I mentioned in an earlier post, one of the benefits that made it cost-effective for me to go with the real healthcare (HSA) plan rather than the phony (HRA) plan is that my company is now covering "preventative" medicines at $0 copay.
