If you are a parent with diabetes, do you find that diabetes gets in the way of your parenting?
Yes. Too often diabetes takes away the attention I want to give my child(ren).
 
Sometimes it does, and in those moments I feel out of control.
 
Sometimes it does, but I usually feel like I can put diabetes back in its place.
 
I think so, but my family doesn't see it that way.
 
No. So far I have managed to feel like I have control and my child(ren) are not shortchanged.
 
No more or less than a million other things get in the way of what I want to do for my kids!

Many people say that depression is a side effect or complication of diabetes. Without discounting the association of the psychological condition with the physical one, I'm not convinced that our high and/or unstable glucose levels are directly responsible for that change in our mental state. My belief is that the unrelenting need for self-care, for following the sort of care schedules that can drive licensed, professional caregivers crazy, is what overwhelms us...
