Fortamet

Fortamet (Metformin hydrochloride) is an extended-release medication used to treat high blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. To control the amount of glucose in the blood, Glucophage limits the amount of glucose absorbed from food and the amount synthesized by the liver. The drug also helps to increase insulin sensitivity.

What dosage can I take and how should I take it?

Consult with your doctor about how much of this medicine you should take and how often. This medication is usually taken once daily with the evening meal.

What are possible side effects?

Side effects may include diarrhea, bloating, stomach pain, gas, indigestion, metallic taste in mouth, heartburn, headache, flushing of the skin and muscle pain. More serious side effects can include chest pain or rash; if you experience these side effects contact your doctor immediately.

This past weekend was my STAR TREK group's anniversary picnic.
