Triabetes
Triabetes aims to revolutionize the way people approach diabetes through inspiration to achieve their goals, education of the patient and medical communities about diabetes and exercise, and exploration of the physiological and social foundations of successful diabetes management.
In 2008, twelve people with type 1 diabetes gathered from across the country to pioneer new standards in diabetes management. As a 13-time Emmy Award-winning documentary company filmed their path to the Ironman triathlon finish line, scholars and clinicians employed cutting-edge scientific technology to track and analyze athlete bio-data with hopes of unlocking the secrets of the “diabetic equation.”
In 2009, returning Triabetes athletes are inviting anyone with diabetes to “give it a shot” and join the team. All types of diabetes. All triathlon distances. All throughout North America.
