I work with nursing students in a local hospital. Recently, a physician ordered insulin coverage as follows blood sugar result - 120 divided by 6.5. This was the first time I have seen this type of order. Would you please explain? I have not found anything in the current textbooks to inform me of this new method or formula. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
My husband, who is a #2 diabetic, recently had a stroke. He has his blood pressure, high cholesterol and high tri-glycerides. He is currently in rehab in a skilled nursing facility. They are giving him insulin, not the oral medication he had been taking. My insurance company wants to put him in custodial care. He's making progress in rehab and has already regained some of the use of his arm and is starting to move his leg. What kind of care does a diabetic need?
I am 32 weeks pregnant & have been tested for GDM and the test was negative. I did not feel well one day so I did a glucose check on myself & results were 332 (this was almost 4 hours after I ate) My DR acted as if I did something wrong by checking it. He also said that I knew nothing about it & I should leave things like that for professionals. Should I keep checking or just not worry?

I have all of the symptoms that you have listed on the previous pages except that I have not lost weight. Many years ago I was diagnosed with Hypoglycemia and when diagnosed I had a blood sugar of 57. I was kept in the hospital for a few days and taught about dieting.
