Kevin Powell, an athlete and competitor, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1993 at the age of 24. Despite this, he competes in rigorous, physically demanding sporting events such as triathlons, marathons, and ironman competitions. No matter the consequences, Kevin manages his diabetes by taking the necessary precautions to ensure that his blood glucose level does not become low during his events. He has run a respectable 19 marathons, four of which have given him times that qualified him for the Boston Marathon. Aside from this, he has also completed nine ironman challenges, hoping to hone his skills enough in order to qualify for the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. In addition to training and taking care of his diabetes, the 43-year-old Kevin is a proud husband and father of two.
