1 quart  cold water
0 1/4 tsp  salt
1 cup  cornmeal
0 1/2 cup  tomato sauce
1 tsp  ground oregano
0 1/2 cup  frozen sweet corn kernels
0 1/2 tsp  hot red pepper flakes
1 pinch  black pepper
  1. Fill a 3-quart saucepan of water, add the salt, and bring to a boil. Add the cornmeal slowly. Decrease the heat and simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently.
  2. Put the tomato sauce, oregano, corn, hot pepper flakes, and pepper in a saucepan and heat.
  3. Once the cornmeal has become stiff, transfer half into a bowl and top with half of the tomato sauce mixture. Place the rest of the cornmeal on top and pour the remaining tomato sauce mixture over all.
  4. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes then slice into squares.
