4 oz  French bread baguette
1 pinch  black pepper
6 tbsp  extra virgin olive oil
3 tsp  minced garlic
14 each  anchovy fillets
3 tbsp  fresh lemon juice
4 tsp  mayonnaise
1 pinch  salt
1 1/2 lb  romaine lettuce leaf
0.3333 cup  grated Parmesan cheese
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Slice baguette into eight, 1/4" thick slices. Arrange bread on baking sheet.
  2. In small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons oil with 1 teaspoon garlic. Brush bread with mixture.
  3. Toast in oven 4 to 5 minutes per side.
  4. Coarsely chop 6 anchovies.
  5. In small bowl, whisk chopped anchovies, remaining olive oil and garlic, lemon juice, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.
  6. Wash, dry, and tear romaine lettuce.
  7. In large bowl, add lettuce, dressing, and 3 tablespoons cheese. Toss to combine.
  8. Fill eight glasses with salad. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Top with an anchovy. Garnish with toasted bread piece.
