4 oz  dry penne pasta
2 tsp  olive oil
1 each  medium garlic cloves
1 1/2 tsp  fresh lemon peel
3 tbsp  fresh lemon juice
0 1/4 cup  fresh basil
1 tbsp  chopped parsley
1 pinch  black pepper
2 tsp  grated Parmesan cheese
  1. Cook the pasta according to the directions on the package. Drain and reserve 3 tablespoons of the pasta water.
  2. Heat the garlic and oil in a pot over medium-high heat for 1 minute. Mix in the lemon zest, lemon juice, half of the basil, half of the parsley, and the pasta water. Turn the heat off then stir in the pasta until the liquid absorbs completely. Add the rest of the parsley and basil.
  3. Separate onto 2 plates and sprinkle the cheese on top.
