2 tsp  olive oil
1 pinch  black pepper
1/2 cup  fresh chopped onion
0 1/2 tsp  salt
1/2 lb  fresh asparagus
4 each  eggs
4 oz  shredded gruyere cheese
  1. Preheat broiler.
  2. Rinse asparagus. Snap off tough ends of asparagus. Cut into 1" pieces. Set aside.
  3. In small bowl, whisk eggs. Set aside.
  4. Heat olive oil in 10" ovenproof skillet over medium.
  5. Add onions and salt. Stir until onions are softened but not browned, about 3 minutes.
  6. Add asparagus, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook covered until asparagus is barely tender, 6 to 8 minutes.
  7. Pour in eggs and cook until almost set but still runny on top, about 2 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle cheese over eggs and broil until cheese is melted and browned, 3-5 minutes.
  9. Remove from broiler. Let sit 5 minutes. Cut into wedges and serve.
