3 tbsp  sugar
4 each  Oranges, navels, fresh, 2 7/8"
2 tbsp  orange juice
Directions
  1. Combine sugar and 1/2 cup water over medium heat in a small saucepan.
  2. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove zest from one orange forming long strips cut into slivers using a vegetable peeler.
  4. Reduce to low heat and stir zest into sugar syrup.
  5. Cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Peel oranges and cut into 1/4 inch slices.
  7. Distribute evenly over four plates.
  8. Mix juice or liqueur with the sugar mixture.
  9. Pour an even amount of the syrup over each of the four plates of oranges.
