1 lb  fresh green beans
4 each  Bacon, cured, lower sodium
16 oz  Onion, pearl
2 tsp  sugar
0 1/2 tsp  ground thyme
1 1/2 tbsp  cider vinegar
0 3/4 tsp  salt
0 1/4 tsp  black pepper
Directions
  1. Boil a pot of water; boil beans 4 minutes. Run beans under cold water and dry.
  2. Crisp bacon in a frying pan over medium high heat. Take bacon out of pan, saving 2 tablespoons of drippings.
  3. Coarsely chop bacon and reserve.
  4. Sauté onions in bacon fat in pan for 3 minutes, stir often.
  5. Mix in sugar and thyme and cook 3 minutes.
  6. Mix in the beans and cook 2 minutes.
  7. Toss bean mixture with vinegar, salt, and pepper. Top with bacon when ready to serve.
