1 each  cooking spray
8 piece  red onion slices
1 tsp  sugar
6 cup  salad greens
1 cup  Apples, fresh, sliced, USDA Commodity Commodity
0 1/4 cup  shredded gruyere cheese
1 tbsp  cold water
1 tbsp  white wine vinegar
1 tsp  olive oil
0 1/4 tsp  salt
0 1/4 tsp  black pepper
  1. Heat a cooking spray coated frying pan over medium heat. Lay 4 onion slices in the pan and top with 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Cook 4 minutes per side or until lightly browed. Wipe frying pan clean and cook the rest of the onions with the sugar.
  2. Mix greens, apple, and cheese in a serving bowl.
  3. Whisk together water, vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper. Spoon mixture over top of greens and top with onion slices.
