13 oz  minced canned clams
1 tbsp  olive oil
0 1/2 cup  minced onion
0 1/2 cup  sliced carrots
6 each  medium garlic cloves
2 cup  chopped tomato
0 1/2 cup  chopped red bell peppers
0 1/2 tsp  salt substitute
0 1/2 tsp  black pepper
0 1/4 tsp  hot red pepper flakes
0 1/2 cup  chopped parsley
0 1/4 cup  fresh basil
1 lb  fettuccine
  1. Drain clams, reserving 1 cup clam juice, and set clams aside.
  2. Heat oil in large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add minced onion, carrot, and garlic; saute 3 minutes.
  4. Add reserved clam juice, tomatoes, bell pepper, salt, red and black pepper and bring to boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
  6. Cook pasta as directed on package.
  7. Remove sauce from heat, stir in clams, parsley, and basil.
  8. Pour over pasta and toss gently.
