  1. Snap off the stem ends of the asparagus spears, cut into 2- or 3-inch pieces. Rinse, and steam the asparagus in about an inch of water for 7 to 10 minutes, or until just tender.
  2. Meanwhile, whisk the olive oil, lemon juice, orange juice, cayenne, salt, and pepper. As soon as the asparagus is ready, remove it to a serving bowl or plate, pour the dressing over it, and serve warm.
