3 quart  cold water
2 tbsp  unsalted tomato paste
1 tsp  salt
1 tsp  black peppercorns
20 each  parsley sprigs
0 1/2 cup  fresh sage
0 1/2 cup  fresh thyme
4 each  bay leaves
4 each  whole cloves
16 each  medium garlic cloves
1 each  medium onions
  1. Add water, tomato paste, salt, peppercorns, parsley, sage, thyme, bay leaves, cloves, garlic, and onion to a large Dutch oven or pot.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium - high heat.
  3. Lower heat to medium and simmer 30 minutes.
  4. Strain broth through cheesecloth, saving broth and throwing away solids.
