1 cup  fresh cranberries
1 cup  cold water
0.6667 tsp  grated orange peel
1 each  cinnamon sticks
0 1/4 tsp  ground cloves
0 1/4 tsp  ground ginger
  1. Combine all ingredients in a large heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 45 minutes until thick.
  2. Discard the cinnamon stick and mash cranberries slightly with a potato masher.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
