5 cup  cold water
1 lb  fresh green beans
1 tbsp  olive oil
3 each  red onion
0 1/2 cup  low fat unsalted chicken broth
1 tbsp  balsamic vinegar
2 tsp  brown sugar
0 1/4 tsp  salt
0 1/4 tsp  black pepper
  1. Boil a large pot of water. Cook green beans in water until they are tender, but still crunchy, about 6 minutes. Strain and set aside in a warm place.
  2. Pour oil in a large frying pan and heat over medium-high heat. Cook onions until translucent, about 8 minutes.
  3. Pour in broth and cook, stirring frequently, for 3 minutes. Mix in vinegar, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Pour in beans, place lid on pan and let cook for 2 minutes.
