1 lb  fresh asparagus
1 cup  tap water
0.6667 lb  fresh shredded cabbage
1 cup  red cabbage, shredded
0.3333 cup  shredded carrots
0 1/4 cup  chopped parsley
0 1/4 each  red onion
2 tbsp  seasoned rice vinegar
1 tbsp  toasted sesame oil
0 1/4 tsp  white pepper
  1. Remove woody ends from asparagus, rinse and cut into 1" pieces.
  2. Add water to medium saucepan and bring to boil over high.
  3. Insert steamer basket into pan. Add asparagus to steamer basket, cover, and steam 5 minutes.
  4. Gently rinse asparagus with cool water, drain well. Set aside.
  5. Finely chop red onion.
  6. In large bowl, combine green cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, parsley, and onion. Add vinegar, sesame oil, and pepper. Toss gently to coat.
  7. Divide slaw between six salad plates. Top with asparagus. Serve.
