0 1/2 cup  Bread Crumbs, plain, grated, dry
0.3333 cup  cornmeal
1 1/2 tsp  chili powder
0.125 tsp  ground red pepper (cayenne)
0.125 tsp  salt
5 tsp  unsalted butter
1 tsp  cold water
2 each  medium onions
2 each  egg whites
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Spray a large nonstick baking sheet with cooking spray and set aside.
  3. Combine bread crumbs, cornmeal, chili powder, ground red pepper and salt in medium shallow dish and mix well.
  4. Stir in butter and water.
  5. Separate onion slices into rings.
  6. Place egg whites in large bowl beating lightly.
  7. Add onions and toss lightly to coat evenly.
  8. Transfer to bread crumb mixture, toss to coat evenly.
  9. Place in single layer on prepared baking sheet.
  10. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until onions are tender and coating is crisp.
