1 1/2 cup  whole milk
0 1/2 cup  sugar
5 each  large oranges
0.125 tsp  salt
  1. In a medium pot, mix the milk ,and sugar, and cook on medium high heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is completely dissolved and bubbles form around the edge, about 2 minutes.
  2. Pour into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until chilled 1 to 4 hours.
  3. Grate 1 teaspoon of orange peel into milk mixture and squeeze 2 cups of juice from the orange, add to milk, then add salt.
  4. Pour into a 9 inch square metal pan, cover and freeze until firm, at least 4 hours.
  5. Spoon sherbet into a food processor or blender, and process until smooth but still frozen. Return to pan, cover and freeze until firm, 1-2 hours.
  6. To serve, let stand at room temperature until soft enough to scoop, about 10 minutes.
