16 oz  canned sliced beets
2 tsp  fresh lemon juice
0 1/2 tsp  salt
1 tbsp  brown sugar
1 tsp  cornstarch
1 each  medium apples
Directions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup of the beet liquid, lemon juice, salt, brown sugar, and cornstarch; mix well.
  2. Cook, stirring, until sauce is thickened and clear. Stir in beets and apple. Bring down the heat to low and gently simmer for 15 minutes. Serve immediately.
