1 1/2 lb  flank steak
0 1/4 cup  low sodium chicken broth
3 tbsp  hoisin sauce
2 tbsp  low sodium soy sauce
1 each  fresh green onions
1 tbsp  cooking sherry
0 1/2 tsp  fresh ginger root
2 each  medium garlic cloves
  1. Trim fat from steak. Score both sides of steak by making shallow cuts at 1" intervals in diamond pattern.
  2. Place steak in resealable plastic bag and set in shallow baking dish.
  3. Chop whole green onion. Peel and chop ginger.
  4. Marinate steak in refrigerator for 8 to 24 hours, turning bag occasionally.
  5. In small bowl, whisk broth, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, green onion, sherry, ginger, and garlic. Add marinade to plastic bag. Reseal tightly.
  6. Remove meat from refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking. Let stand at room temperature.
  7. Drain steak and pat dry. Discard marinade.
  8. Preheat gas grill 400°F. Reduce heat to medium. Cook, covered, 9-10 minutes per side.
  9. Remove from grill. Let steak rest 5 minutes. Thinly slice steak across the grain.
