Ingredients Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom and side of 1 1/2 quart casserole dish with shortening or spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a 2 quart saucepan, heat milk, water, salt and pepper to boiling.
  3. Gradually add grits, stirring frequently, reduce heat, simmer uncovered for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  4. Stir in cheese and onions.
  5. Stir 1 cup of the grits mixture into the eggs, then stir in the remaining grits into the saucepan.
  6. Pour into the casserole dish. Sprinkle with butter and paprika.
  7. Bake uncovered 35 to 40 minutes or until set. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
