Ingredients Directions
  1. Boil a large saucepan of water and then blanch the fava beans in the boiling water for 3 minutes. Drain them, and then refresh the beans under cold running water. When they are cool enough to handle, peel the outer skins from the beans.
  2. Next, heat the oil in a saucepan over low heat and then cook the garlic for about 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes, cannellini beans, and sage and then simmer covered for 10 minutes. Stir in the fava beans and then cook gently for 5-10 minutes, or until tender. Season with pepper, if desired.
