  1. Place the chopped tomatoes, consomme, onion and celery in a blender or food processor. Add the garlic, then spoon in the tomato paste.
  2. Pulse until vegetables are finely chopped, then process to a smooth paste.
  3. Press the mixture through a strainer into a large bowl and stir in the lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, basil leaves and vodka.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cover and chill.
  5. Serve the soup with small amount of crushed ice and place a celery stick in each bowl.
