1 tsp  Margarine, 80% fat, unsalted
1 cup  sliced white onion
2 each  medium garlic cloves
3 cup  fat free half and half
0 1/4 cup  cornstarch
1 lb  fresh green beans
2 tbsp  fresh basil
0 3/4 tsp  salt
0 1/4 tsp  black pepper
0 1/2 cup  Bread Crumbs, plain, grated, dry
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Coat a 3-quart baking dish with fat-free cooking spray.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the margarine. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Whisk together the half-and-half and cornstarch until the cornstarch dissolves. Pour into the pan and whisk until thickened, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat and stir in the green beans, basil, salt, and pepper. Spoon into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with the bread crumbs.
  5. Bake until bubbly, 20 to 25 minutes. Turn on the broiler and broil until the crumbs are lightly browned, about 1 minute.
