2 1/4 cup  cold water
1 tsp  sea salt
5 tsp  olive oil
2 cup  masa harina flour
1 each  cooking spray
Directions
  1. Boil water with salt and oil in a pot. Gradually stir boiling mixture into masa harina in a bowl to form a dough. Cover and let rest 15 minutes.
  2. Separate the dough into 12 equal sections. Form each section into a ball using moist hands. Flatten each ball into a 1/2-inch thick patty. Spray each patty with cooking spray on one side.
  3. Cook arepas in a cast-iron skillet heated over medium heat, cooking spray side down. Cook 5 minutes per side, using a spatula to flatten. Arepas should be just crispy and golden brown.
