Directions
1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
2 In a large bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3 Add the buttermilk, stir with a fork to make soft, but it will be a slightly sticky dough.
4 Lightly flour your hands and form the dough into a ball. Lightly flour working surface and knead the dough gently 8-10 times.
5 Form the dough into a 6-inch thick round, with a slightly flat top. Place dough on cooking spray coated baking sheet and score an X on the top with a knife.
6 Bake for 35-45 minutes, remove to a cooling rack and serve still warm.
Additional Information
If you score the top of the round at least 1/2-inch thick, this will help make it break easily.
