1 Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl until thoroughly combined. 2 Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the sauce is slightly firm. 3 Meanwhile, discard the steams from the strawberries; then cut the strawberries into the bite-size pieces. 4 Spoon the berries into six dessert dishes; then top each serving with equal amounts of sauce and sprinkling of pecans if desired. Serve immediately.

This dish can be served as a breakfast treat by leaving out the liqueur and topping with crunchy whole-grain cereal.
