Directions
1 Preheat oven to 400°F. Slice baguette into eight, 1/4" thick slices. Arrange bread on baking sheet.
2 In small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons oil with 1 teaspoon garlic. Brush bread with mixture.
3 Toast in oven 4 to 5 minutes per side.
4 Coarsely chop 6 anchovies.
5 In small bowl, whisk chopped anchovies, remaining olive oil and garlic, lemon juice, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.
6 Wash, dry, and tear romaine lettuce.
7 In large bowl, add lettuce, dressing, and 3 tablespoons cheese. Toss to combine.
8 Fill eight glasses with salad. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Top with an anchovy. Garnish with toasted bread piece.
Additional Information
The anchovies can be omitted, if desired.
