0.5 cup lowfat plain yogurt
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 medium garlic cloves , minced
0.25 tsp salt (optional)

Meatballs
12 oz extra lean ground beef (5% fat)
1 tbsp oregano leaves , fresh, crushed (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
0.75 tsp salt
1 medium garlic cloves , minced
0.12 tsp ground cayenne (red pepper)
4 large whole wheat pitas , halved crosswise
8 piece fresh romaine leaves
1 fresh tomatoes , sliced into wedges (optional)


Directions
1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2 In a small bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, 1 clove garlic, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Set aside.
3 Combine ground beef, oregano, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1 clove garlic, and cayenne pepper in a medium-size bowl. Mix well. Form beef mixture into 24 meatballs about 1-inch in diameter. Place meatballs in a 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
4 Bake meatballs, uncovered, for 20 minutes, or until no longer pink.
5 Carefully open pita bread halves. Line each half with a lettuce leaf. Fill each half with 3 meatballs, 1 tablespoon of sauce, and tomato wedges.
