1 Place the chopped tomatoes, consomme, onion and celery in a blender or food processor. Add the garlic, then spoon in the tomato paste. 2 Pulse until vegetables are finely chopped, then process to a smooth paste. 3 Press the mixture through a strainer into a large bowl and stir in the lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, basil leaves and vodka. 4 Add salt and pepper to taste. Cover and chill. 5 Serve the soup with small amount of crushed ice and place a celery stick in each bowl.
Additional Information
Vegetable stock can be substituted for beef consomme if serving vegetarians.
