Servings
Ingredients
1 tsp Margarine, 80% fat, unsalted
1 cup sliced white onion
2 medium garlic cloves , minced
3 cup fat free half and half
0.25 cup cornstarch
1 lb fresh green beans , trimmed (or 16 ounces frozen green beans, thawed)
2 tbsp fresh basil , chopped
0.75 tsp salt
0.25 tsp black pepper
0.5 cup Bread Crumbs, plain, grated, dry

Directions
1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Coat a 3-quart baking dish with fat-free cooking spray.
2 In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the margarine. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 5 minutes.
3 Whisk together the half-and-half and cornstarch until the cornstarch dissolves. Pour into the pan and whisk until thickened, about 3 to 5 minutes.
4 Remove from the heat and stir in the green beans, basil, salt, and pepper. Spoon into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with the bread crumbs.
5 Bake until bubbly, 20 to 25 minutes. Turn on the broiler and broil until the crumbs are lightly browned, about 1 minute.
