Servings
Ingredients
0.75 cup Figs, dried , chopped
0.75 cup Pears, sulfured, dried, halves , chopped
0.5 cup cold water
2 tbsp packed light brown sugar
5 tbsp margarine , softened
2 tbsp sugar
3 egg whites
1 tsp vanilla extract
1.75 cup white all purpose flour
0.5 tsp baking soda
0.25 tsp salt
2 tbsp Milk, 2%, with add calcium & vitamin A & D

Directions
1 Combine figs, pears, water, and brown sugar in a pot and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer 20 minutes, until mixture is thick. Using a food processor blender, puree mixture until smooth.
2 Using electric beaters, blend margarine and sugar until fluffy; mix in egg whites and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt and gradually mix into margarine mixture. Form dough into 4 logs, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill 1 hour.
3 Roll 1 log out on a floured surface into a 12 x 5-inch flat rectangle. Spread 1/4 of the fruit mixture onto dough. Fold sides of dough over filling, pressing edges to seal. Slice log in half and lay seam side down on a greased cookie sheet.
4 Continue making logs with the rest of the ingredients. Coat each log with milk.
5 Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool and slice into bars.
