Servings
Ingredients
1 tbsp light mayonnaise
0.5 tsp Ketchup
0.5 tsp yellow mustard
0.25 lb extra lean ground beef (5% fat)
1 piece American cheese, reduced fat, slice (optional)
1 whole wheat hamburger buns
0.25 cup romaine lettuce , chopped
1 oz red onion slices , 1 thin slice needed
1 oz Pickles, dill, slices , 3 pickle slices

Directions
1 In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard, stir well and set aside.
2 Shape the beef into a patty that is about 1/2-inch wider than the bun.
3 Preheat a medium non-stick skillet or grill rack on high heat. Place the patty on the pan or grill. Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness. (Do not smash the burger with the spatula).
4 About 30 seconds before the burger is fully cooked, top with cheese if desired.
5 Place the bun halves, cut sides down, onto the pan or grill. Cook for approximately 45 seconds, or until toasted.
6 Place the bun bottom on a serving plate. Top with the patty, lettuce, onion and pickles. Spread the reserved sauce evenly over the inside of the bun top. Flip onto the burger. Serve immediately.
