1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. 2 Lightly coat the bottom of a 9x9x2-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray, being careful not to coat sides of pan. 3 In a medium saucepan melt butter; remove from heat. 4 Stir in granulated sugar, water, and vanilla. 5 Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder until combined. 6 Stir in chocolate pieces. 7 Pour batter into prepared pan. 8 Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. 9 Cool on a wire rack. Remove from pan. Cut into 16 squares. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
