Ingredients
1 cup Soda, Sprite, diet, with aspertane (or diet 7-Up)
1 Gelatin, cherry, sugar free, dry mix, serving , do not make as directed on box) (.35-ounce package)
14.5 oz Cherries, red, tart, canned, with water, USDA Commodity Commodity , pitted
11 oz Mandarin Oranges, natural style, canned (1 can)
0.25 cup sweetener (sugar substitute) (Equal Spoonfuls, or 1/4 cup sugar)
8 oz whipped fat-free topping (Cool Whip Free)
0.25 cup chopped walnuts , finely


Directions
1 To prepare, heat Sprite in microwave on high for one minute.
2 Using a large bowl, briskly stir gelatin into hot Sprite. Stir until completely dissolved.
3 Drain juices from cherries and oranges into gelatin. Stir until well mixed.
4 On a dinner plate, smash cherries with a potato masher. Add sweetener to smashed cherries and stir until well mixed.
5 With a whisk, briskly stir sweetened cherries, oranges, Cool Whip Free, and chopped walnuts into gelatin until well mixed.
6 Pour into a glass serving bowl (so you can see the pretty layers). Refrigerate until firm.

Make the night or morning before needed.
